WILLIAM “Bill” V. GAGLIARDI SR.
William “Bill” V. Gagliardi Sr., age 80 of Boynton Beach, Florida, formerly of Baldwin, New York passed away Friday, October 13, 2023.
Bill was born December 19, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Leonard Gagliardi and Veronica Killorin Gagliardi.
Bill and his wife, Patricia “Pat” were originally parishioners of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Baldwin, New York. Once they retired to Florida, Bill and Pat become parishioners of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Boynton Beach. Bill found his spiritual home at St. Thomas More and felt a deep connection with the Pastor, Father Julian Harris. He stated this is where he found peace and happiness, and it renewed his faith in the Church.
Bill was a proud Sheet Metal Worker and Shop Steward for over 50 years with the Sheet Metal Workers International Union, Local #28 in New York. He was glad to tell anyone that he helped construct the original Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City.
He was the Manufacturing Supervisor for Fairchild Republic in Farmingdale, New York which built the A-10 Jet Fighter for the United States Air Force for many years.
Bill earned his wings as Private Pilot and loved the sky and being so close to Heaven. So much so, that his ashes are in an Urn which signifies that he is flying with the Doves.
He is survived by Patricia, his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, and his 2 sons of which he was extremely proud of and loved dearly. Bill was very involved with the Cub Scouts in Baldwin, New York with his eldest son, William “Billy”. His son, Christopher, a Culinary Graduate, Bill was very proud of the way he worked his way up in prominent restaurants in New York obtaining the title of Executive Chef. Bill is also survived by his 2 grandsons, James and Thomas Gagliardi, whom he adored. He is the brother of 5 sisters, Lisa, Leona, Mary, Veronica and Helen and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 20, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10935 South Military Trail, Boynton Beach, Florida. Further Services will be held at a later date in New York.
