Bill passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lantana on May 21, 2018.
He was born on November 4, 1947 in Delray Beach to William G., II and Louise Cate. Bill graduated from Seacrest High School, where he played varsity baseball. Bill went on to enroll in the U.S. Air Force where he served our country in Montana, Greece, and Korea. He was happily married for 47 years to Linda J. Lockwood. Bill and Linda enjoyed every moment together, whether traveling or spending time with family and friends each summer in Duck Key, FL. Bill was a State of Florida Licensed General Contractor for 30 years. During that time, he made lifelong relationships in the construction industry with several notable projects completed in the Town of Palm Beach. Bill was a member of the Trowel Guild where he taught the art of masonry to many apprentices. Bill’s special interests and hobbies included raising a family, boating, and Miami football. His favorite times were returning from a day on the water and cooking a fresh catch on the grill.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; sons, William L. (Karen) and Timothy J. (Sandy); Pappy to his 4 grandchildren, Cadie, Madi, Avery, and Will; 3 siblings, Sharon (Richard) Griffin, Carolyn (Patrick) Fitzgerald, and Kenneth; Nancy & Bill Thompson and family; the Strassburger family; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. He will be truly missed by all.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, corner of US Hwy. #1 & NE 15th Ave., Boynton Beach. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
