VINCENT R. VECCHIONE, age 89 of Delray Beach, passed away July 2, 2016. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Vince served in the Navy at the end of WWII, then climbed the corporate ladder before building and ultimately selling his own company, Bellwood Inc. In the early 70's, Vince pursued real estate developing, building the first condominiums in his home town of Deerfield, Illinois, as well as several corporate office buildings in the area.
Vince was a Renaissance man and the keeper of his family's history and memories. He loved writing poetry and had a passion for singing, most particularly opera. As a long time, off- season, then permanent, resident of Quail Ridge in Boynton Beach, Fla., he founded the Quail Ridge Chorus in 1996, now in it's 21st year of performing.
Vince also enjoyed tennis and golf and in the 1980's, in what golf websites state as 50 - 90 million to 1 odds, he achieved an impressive personal best by acing both par 3s in the same round, on the same nine. This rare feat was reported on Chicago TV stations and a national sports report.
He is survived and greatly missed, by his wife, Jean, his daughter, Christina and son, Michael, as well as his grandchildren, Andrew and Nicole, his niece and nephew, Gina and Andrew Cilla and his many friends.
We know Vince is in heaven, where singing tenor with Pavarotti and playing golf with Seve Ballesteros is entirely possible.
