Tom Stanley Szemer, 68, died on August 29th, 2019 at his home in Lake Worth, Florida. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, September 17th, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in Bushnell, Florida at the National Veterans Cemetery. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors.
Tom was born December 26th, 1950 to Stanley Szemer and Leola Ilean (LaDue) Szemer in Lansing, Michigan.
He graduated high school in 1969 from Everett High School in Lansing, Michigan. Shortly after high school Tom joined the Army and became a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was always extremely proud of his military service. After the service he met and married Kimberly Harms. They were married for 27 years and had 3 children. Tom had various jobs during his life. He was a wallpaper hanger for many years but eventually became employed by Publix Supermarkets. He spent many years with Publix in the produce and seafood departments. He retired from Publix in 2016. Tom owned a Harley Davidson motorcycle and loved to go riding with his son and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and boating with his children when they were young. He also enjoyed scuba diving throughout his life.
Tom is survived by his 3 children, Brian Thomas Szemer, Chad Christopher Szemer, and his daughter Alyssa Eileen Szemer Napoli. He has 1 grandchild, Vivian Nicole Szemer. He loved all his children and grandchild dearly. He had treasured memories, that will follow him into eternity, of his time spent with his beloved family. Tom is also survived by his brother Ted Szemer, his nephew Josh Szemer, and his niece Noele Szemer, all of Lansing, Michigan.
