TOM J. McCOY
Tom J. McCoy went home on July 12, 2015 to be with his deceased family and friends. Tom was borne on September 10, 1948, in Lake City, Iowa, to Max Jay and Ellia Jean McCoy. He was a graduate (with honors) of Morehead State College and a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Social Fraternity. His last thirty two years were spent fighting the progressive effects of Parkinson’s Disease and, as a volunteer, was involved in several scientific research surgeries. Throughout the years, Tom stayed active with weight training and exercise. While doing his daily exercises in the pool, he accidently drowned. Per his wishes, his brain has been donated to the University of Miami for further Parkinson’s research.
Tom lived a full and event filled life, serving his country in the U.S. Army – as a Parole and Probation Officer in Palm Beach County – and as an entrepreneur, owning an Apartment Complex and a Mobile Home Community. Tom was a Real Estate Broker, a Mortgage Broker, and a Mobile Home Dealer, with his primary business being Real McCoy Mobile Home Sales. (Tom had five Real Estate Offices throughout Palm Beach and Martin Counties, and was known as “The Real”, selling pre-loved and new Manufactured Homes.) Tom’s last 28 years were spent with the love of his life, Donna Jean Allen, who not only was his partner in life, she was also his partner in business. Tom is survived by his two Brothers, Bruce McCoy (Pam) and Ed McCoy (Mary), Three Nieces: Katie Holcomb (Kelly), Alice McCoy, and Maurine DeVries (Jason), Step Sons Donald Roberts (Nina) and Keith G. Allen (Cindy), three Grandchildren: Kyle, Reese, and Libby Allen, and one Great Nephew, Ben McCoy…. And many, many close and wonderful friends.
