Sylvester Silvio Mazzella

Sylvester Silvio Mazzella, 83, of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, after a brief illness.

Silvio was born in New York on February 4, 1942, to Maria and Luigi Mazzella who had emigrated from Ponza, Italy. He graduated from Gompers Vocational high school in Bronx, New York. He received an Associates Degree from DeVry University.

Silvio served in the United States Navy on the SS Boxer until he was released from active military service in 1969 when he was honorably discharged. He served in Viet Nam and became disabled after his exposure to Agent Orange.

Silvio will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Martha, of only three years, and her children and grandchildren, his loving daughter, Ava Mazzella Santana (Ray), his brothers, Ralph Mazzella (Silveria) and Louis Mazzella (Silveria), his loving nieces, Angella Chuquimarca (Javier), Ida Russo (Jon), Anjelica Mazzella Calwell (Jordan), Veronica Mazzella Papineau-Wright (Justin), his loving nephew, Louis Mazzella (Monica). Silvio was predeceased by his sister, Lucille Mazzella, and his first wife of many years, Mary Ann Mazzella.

Silvio was employed by Consolidated Edison Company for 40 years who presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation upon his retirement.

He was extremely proud of his Italian heritage. He loved watching TV, spending time with friends and family and loved to cook Italian meals.

Visitation will be at the Yorktown Funeral Home, 945 E Main St, Shrub Oak, NY 10588 on June 22, 2025, from to 2 to 6 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, 1377 East Main Street, Shrub Oak, NY 10588 at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, with burial at Hillside Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567 immediately following.

Donations can be made in Silvio’s memory to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
