STEPHEN ALFRED VOELLINGER
Husband of 62 years to Shirley, father to Lynne (Bob), Steve (Olga), Karen (Fred), Michael (Annette) & David (Lucia), grandfather to Rachel, Max, Katie, Lauren, Erich, DJ and Marcus, brother to David (Lona), and the late Mary & late Catherine, passed away June 10th, 2017 , surrounded by family and in the comfort of his Boynton Beach, Florida home.
Mr. Voellinger was born in Philadelphia to an immigrant baker. After graduating North Catholic High School, he entered the Navy and proudly served his country as an aircraft mechanic. Upon being honorably discharged he went to work in the machining & tool business. The young man met the love of his life in 1953 and wed in 1955.
After moving to Maple Shade, NJ he founded Delva Tool & Machine in 1963. Involvement in the space program and defense contracts helped the business grow steadily, and still operates in Cinnaminson, NJ today.
Mr. Voellinger was very active in the local community, serving on township boards and volunteering his time to youth sports.
A golf aficionado, he joined Riverton CC in 1977 and later Pine Tree GC in Boynton Beach FL. He served on the boards and numerous committees at each club and garnered respect because of his warm greetings, business acumen, and love of the game. He will be remembered fondly at both clubs.
His drive, energy & grit saw him through setbacks in his life. His attitude, integrity, and sense of duty to loved ones will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have ever met him.
The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 19, 2017 at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 840 George Bush Boulevard, Delray Beach, Florida. The Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at 1:00 PM at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road #7, Lake Worth, Florida (Lane #1).
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
