Sheila Lewis Shuhi

Sheila Lewis Shuhi, 73 of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away at her
home on July 14, 2023.
She was born on June 22, 1950 in Paterson, New Jersey. Sheila attended
Seacrest High School and graduated in 1968. Sheila was employed for
more than 40 years by IBM Corp. in Boca Raton, Fl. before retiring in 2012.
Sheila was hired into secretarial services but quickly promoted to
executive secretary. She held many key assignments including salary
analyst in Personnel/HR, and her skills were put to good use in IBM Legal,
Contracts, and Procurement.
Sheila loved animals, especially her cats and dobermans and never missed
a chance to feed them including the ducks, iguanas, and squirrels in her
yard. She loved to travel, taking full advantage of her timeshare properties
and Disney World membership and graciously shared them with family and
friends. She loved shopping for others and her overabundance of
generosity was felt by family and friends. Sheila found joy in celebrating
holidays, hosting festive gatherings and making treats for children in her
neighborhood. She supported many charitable organizations including
Project Linus, Toys for Tots, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and
Veterans Affairs.
Sheila will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Jim Lewis of Glenville,
NC, his children, Jim Lewis (Cheryl) of Black Mountain, NC, and Michelle
Lewis Hovis of Iron Station, NC, and grandchildren, Katie Blaine Hovis and
Lily Hovis, as well as many friends and colleagues. Sheila was
predeceased by her mother, Marguerite (Peggy) Lewis and ex-husband,
Robert Shuhi.
A funeral service in memory of Sheila will be held on Tuesday, July 25 at
11:00 AM at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home. Friends may be
received beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Palm Beach
Memorial Park, Lantana.
Donations in Sheila’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital. Those who prefer to send flowers may send them to
