Salvatore C. Scalzo of Boynton Beach passed away August 20, 2023, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Sal was born on May 19, 1939, in Utica, New York, to the late Frances (Chichello) and Anthony Scalzo. Following graduation, he joined the US Army, and in 1960 settled in Boynton Beach. Many people will remember him from Sal’s Poppa Pizza, Sal’s Alibi Lounge, the 24-hour gym, or at Bent Tree where he formed long standing friendships. Sal was a loyal New York Yankees fan. He loved watching sports with his grandsons. He was very patriotic and enjoyed visiting regularly with his family and friends in Utica. Family and friends meant everything to him. Sal was survived by his son, Joe (Connie), his grandson, Anthony (Niki), and great granddaughters, Jayde and Rowan, and his grandson, Brad. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Lisa, and granddaughter, Taya. A funeral service in memory of Sal will be held on Wednesday, August 30th, at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida.
