ROSALYN EDNA SHOWALTER JOHNSON
Age 78 of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully at her home on June 19, 2020 after a long and debilitating illness.
She was born December 5, 1941 in Waynesboro, Virginia, the daughter of Winfred E. and Mildred Harner Showalter who preceded her in death. Rosalyn graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1959 and attended Eastern Mennonite University. She worked for General Electric in Waynesboro, Virginia for several years before moving to the Washington, DC area where she graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia with honors, majoring in English and Spanish. She was fluent in Spanish.
She married Ronald Johnson on August 23, 1969. They made their home in Fairfax, Virginia just outside Washington, DC where she managed the family court reporting business until they moved to Boynton Beach, Florida in 2012.
She was a lifelong member of Springdale Mennonite Church, Waynesboro, Virginia and a member of Community Lutheran Church, Geneva, Minnesota.
Rose is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, and one daughter, Mayme Johnson Grim and husband, James F. Grim, Jr., MD and two grandchildren, Hannah Grim and Anders Grim of Tampa, Florida; sister, Christine Ontiveros (Efren) of Roanoke, Virginia, brothers, Thomas Showalter (Deborah) of Roanoke, Virginia, Kenton Showalter (Miriam) of Sarasota, Florida. One brother, Fredric preceded her in death in 2006. She was an excellent seamstress, excelled in working with stained glass, and loved gardening.
She was cremated and there will be a memorial service in Florida when permitted after the Covid virus pandemic.
