RICHARD J. KAISER, SR.
Richard J. Kaiser, Sr, “Rich” of Lake Worth, Florida passed away at home on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the age of 55, after a yearlong battle with brain cancer, with his loving wife and children by his side.
Born July 17, 1969, Rich grew up in Woodhaven, NY where he attended St. Thomas the Apostle School.
Always having a strong work ethic, Rich started his first job when he was just 11 years old, delivering newspapers. He even chose his high school, Archbishop Molloy, based on its schedule so he could continue his paper route. He worked as a hotdog vendor on Manhattan streets, with a prime location outside the Empire State Building and eventually at age 19, while still attending CUNY Baruch, he began his career at UPS, where he worked until his retirement in 2017.
Growing up, Rich was a dedicated basketball player in CYO. Gyms would erupt in cheers of “Koo” when he had the ball, an homage to his family’s former business, Kaiser & Koos Funeral Home. Eventually, Rich also learned to enjoy playing poker, where he became a regular at weekly poker tournaments in Lake Worth. Nothing, however, compared to his enjoyment of spending time with his family. Whether it was trips to Hawaii, Ireland, Las Vegas, one of many cruises, or even staying home, Rich was happy just to spend time with his wife and their children.
In 1985, at the age of 16, Rich met his future wife, Dorothy. They would eventually marry in 1993 and move to West Palm Beach where they would raise their children. Their little family was his entire world, and nothing made him prouder. Known for his quick wit, sense of humor and being a great judge of character, he was beloved by his family, extended family and many friends.
Rich is lovingly remembered by his wife Dorothy and their two children, Richard and Kaitlyn: his parents, Richard and Dorothy of Woodhaven: his sisters Debbie and Karen; sisters in law Kathryn, Jennifer and Amy; brothers in law John, Danny, Richard, Mike, Billy and Kevin; nephews John, Michael, James, Cameron, Kyler, Rigley and Zack; nieces Danielle and Jasmine, as well as the extended Taylor family, Jimmy, Karla, James, Erica, Crissy, SJ, Matt, Chris and Kevin; and many other loved ones.
Rich is predeceased by his daughter, Kirsten; his grandparents, George and Marion Kaiser, and Arthur and Agnes Habeeb; his Uncles Peter and Arthur; his Aunt Agnes; Stanley (PopPop) Taylor, and nephews Thomas Donahue and Thomas Taylor.
Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home in Boynton Beach. Wake services will be held there on Sunday, April 6th from 2PM – 4PM and 6PM – 8PM. His funeral service will be on Monday, April 7th at 11:30 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Boynton Beach. Burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace, Royal Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rich’s memory to the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, where Rich received treatment in 1999, 2011, 2012 and, again, this past year.
