RICHARD T. HENDERSON
Richard T. Henderson, Ed.D., LMGC, CAP, CST, age 76 of Boynton Beach passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2020 in his home. Richard was born April 8, 1944 in Kingsport, Tennessee to the late Dawson Adams Henderson Jr. and Evelyn Taylor Henderson.
He is survived by his son, Rick Henderson of Boca Raton, FL; sister, Susie Heckman of Nashville, TN; brother, Jim Henderson of Kingsport, TN; sister, Mary Henderson-Smith of Nashville, TN; and his brother, Dawson A. (Dee) Henderson III of Marietta, Ga.
Richard was a troubled late teen, and young adult, who battled alcohol and drug dependency that would shake the foundation of his familial bonds. He would continue on that pathway into his 37th year, when he met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and a life transforming miracle occurred. Never taking another drop of alcohol and independently detoxing from prescription pills, he immediately became the recipient of the life changing power of God. He would go on to earn three additional college degrees, with one at the doctoral level. Having been changed forever and seeking to truly devote himself to God's calling, for the remainder of his life he would minister to 1,000's of inmates, church members, students, young adults, and the elderly in various settings which included public and private prisons, classrooms, rehabilitation centers, churches, and the local community.
Richard’s many interests included antiques, playing the banjo, college football and cooking.
