Ralph Joseph Grottalio, of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on April 14 2026, surrounded and comforted by his family. He was just shy of his 90th birthday. He is survived by Stella, his loving wife of 67 years, and his three daughters, Janet Nicolini (husband Michael), Deborah Cousins (husband Raymond) and Karen Grottalio (fiancé Rayf Berman) and two Grand-dogs who visited often from NY. His pride and joy was his Granddaughter Olivia, who will graduate from Tulane University in May with her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who enjoyed his company throughout the years. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Anthony, Lee, Pasquale, and Alfred, who died a hero in World War II. Ralph was a devout Yankees fan, having been raised in the Bronx, in the shadow of Yankee stadium, in the days of Joe Dimaggio and Micky Mantle. He spent most of his working life as a Letter Carrier in New York, and later moved to Little River, SC, where he worked as a Bellman at The Beach Cove in North Myrtle Beach. Those who knew him affectionatly referred to him as the "Mayor of Myrtle Beach", because of his effusive personality and his knowledge and recommendations of restaurants and other attractions. He spent his later years in Boynton Beach, enjoying his retirement and playing "tour guide" for all who would visit him.
A Funeral Mass for Ralph will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Boynton Beach.
In lieu of flowers, Ralph and his wife, Stella, would appreciate a contribution to the Pap Corps, of which they were both lifetime members. You may contact Stella to donate by check or, make your contribution through thepapcorps.org, and select Option Tribute Gift, and then select Ralph Grottalio as the tribute/honoree and Majestic Isles as the chapter.
