PETER V. LAVINA

93 year old World War II Veteran passed away at Bethesda Hospital on
January 16, 2017. Peter was predeceased by his wife Rosemarie Lavina. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Lavina) Moore and his son, Peter Lavina Jr., as well as two granddaughters Joanna Moore and Leah Moore. He is also survived by his life partner of 34 years, Elizabeth M. Gauhs. Peter moved to Leisureville in 1975 from Mahopac, NY. He and his wife performed in many of the shows put on in Clubhouse 3.
Peter worked for the Village of Golf for many years, on the golf course and valet airport service for the residents.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the U.S.S. Renshaw AD 499, in Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, and the Phillipines for 3 years.
He was very proud of a letter from President Harry Truman as he was on the Renshaw, for Navy Day, the 1945 parade on the Hudson River, NY, along with the U.S.S. Missouri for inspection.
A memoriam will be held at Palm Beach Memorial Park, Lantana on January 30, 2017 at 11 am.
