PEDRO FEDERICO SAUBERER
September 16, 1936 – September 3, 2024
Pedro F. Sauberer of Boynton Beach, Florida (also known as "Popi" to his children,
"Guajiro or Pete to his friends"), was called Home to Heaven by the Lord on
September 3, 2024 at the age of 87.
He was born on September 16, 1936 in Havana, Cuba to his parents Federico
Gustavo Sauberer and Simone Bertha Wehrstein. He completed standard schooling
and began working as a mechanic at the young age of 15 and received a certification
as a diesel mechanic from the Escuela Electro Mecanica (Electromechanical School)
of Belen on November 7, 1954 when he was 18 years old.
Pedro eventually met Carmen and they got married, on his birthday, on September 16,
1961; at least this way he would never forget his wedding anniversary!. Pedro and
Carmen began building their family through the years with five children and in 1968,
he made the decision to leave Cuba with his wife, pregnant with their sixth child, to
the United States to make a better life for their family.
After a short time in Miami, Florida, the family moved to Mamaroneck, New York
where the family spent many years. He worked at County Wide Garden Center as a
mechanic fixing tractors and lawn mowers. In 1978, he relocated the family to
Boynton Beach, Florida. He began working at CSR Rinker in approximately 1979
until he retired around 1998 after 26 years. He stayed in Boynton Beach for the
remainder of his life.
He was always a very simple man, an “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” kind of man.
He had a love of playing dominoes and became a world-renowned domino champion
(according to his family), smoking cigars and listening to all types of music, making his
rounds to the gas station, the Capri Bakery, and always willing to lend a helping hand
to his family and friends – he never had idle hands. And he did know how to throw
one heck of a party and cooked the best roasted pork and “chicharones”!!
Pedro is now reunited for eternity with his beloved wife Carmen of 60 years and his
son Pablo, as well as many siblings, other family and friends as they celebrate
welcoming him home and celebrating his life together.
Pedro’s life and legacy will carry on in the hearts and stories of those he leaves behind,
His eldest son Pete; his four daughters and sons-in-law – Maria Margarita “Maggie” &
Robbie Eichorst of Boynton Beach, FL; Maria & Ron Kennedy of Nunnelly, TN,
Cristina & Art Warkentin of Lake Placid, FL, and Angela & Mike Adkins of Palm
Bay, FL and his dear little sister Maria Margarita “Chiqui” and brother-in-law Richard
Yessian of St. Augustine, FL; granddaughter Amanda “Mandy” Eichorst, grandson
Kyle Warkentin, granddaughter Hannah Warkentin, grandson Paul Sauberer and
grandsons Joe & Adam Adkins and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He will be dearly missed by all of us whose hearts and lives he has touched. He is our
Heavenly Angel and we know he will continue to be watching over us all as he always
has.
