NICHOLAS ANTHONY TORELLI
Nick was born on March 18, 1933 at Morrisania Hospital, Bronx, NY to Felicetta and Mariano Torelli and he passed away on March 29, 2018 in Boynton Beach, Florida. He attended local public schools and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in June 1951. His first job in Manhattan was with National City Bank as a clerk. He worked for them until 1967, serving in New York City, Japan for two years, Gitmo – the Navy base in Cuba and Trinidad. In 1967 he married Helen Tang and they had one son, Andrew Torelli, who is now a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. This marriage ended in a divorce. After his career in banking he became a stockbroker, and worked for various firms in Manhattan and later Stamford and Westport, CT.
In 1981, Nick married Joan S. Richards in Old Greenwich, CT and they enjoyed 36 years together in Connecticut and Florida. Andrew married Giannina Castillo in Panama in June 1996 and they have two girls, Ariana and Bianca. At present he is stationed in Camp Scott, Illinois.
Unable to drive a car due to bad eyesight, Nick became interested in boating in his later years. He bought a downeast lobster trawler and enjoyed many summers on Long Island Sound before cruising all the way to Florida in 1993 with Joan. They spent two winters on the boat first in Daytona Beach, then in Fort Myers and Longboat Key near Sarasota. Later they bought their present home in Boynton Beach.
Combining the Torelli and Richards families there are now 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 643 St. Mark Place, Boynton Beach, FL. Burial will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Royal Palm Beach, Florida.
