Nancy Thomson McGill, age 90, passed away peacefully September 5, 2016. Funeral Services will be Saturday, Oct. 1, at 11:30 am, Clover Presbyterian Church, Clover, SC.
Nancy lived a long and beautiful life. After getting her Masters Degree in Church Music, Nancy married the love of her life Kenneth McGill from Clover, SC. Nancy supported Kenneth through several years of medical school and residency, afterwards settling in Kings Mountain, NC for 8 years. Nancy enjoyed raising the family and directing the children's choir at Boyce Memorial ARP Church. Nancy and Kenneth became missionaries in Africa for the Presbyterian Church in 1967 and went to Congo where they served for 20 years, and Malawi, where they served for another 3 years. Nancy’s many skills came forward as she worked in rural African hospitals in administrating and assisting to ensure the hospitals had the needed drugs and supplies. She is remembered as a gracious hostess, a quiet and steadfast Christian example, and a friend by all she knew on both continents. Her true passion for music continued as she learned a new sound of the African Choirs .
After Kenneth's passing in 1991, Nancy volunteered at New Lebanon Church in Bent Tree, Georgia in both the music program and as church secretary. In 2000, Nancy relocated to South Florida to be near her daughter. She continued to be active in the women's ministries of the First Presbyterian Church in Boynton Beach.
Nancy was a woman of faith, family and friends. She is survived by her 3 children, Kenneth McGill of Campobello, SC, Linda Coffin, Hypoluxo, FL and Jim McGill of Malawi, Africa, their spouses, Ann, John and Jodi, her grand children, Donald(Michelle) Julie(Brad) Kristine (Mike), Angel, Jason, Michael, Selina, Salomi, John , Joseph and her great grandchildren, Lucas, Alex, Donald and Meghan.
