MILLARD STEVENS GOODSELL
born in 1931 in Newtown, CT, was the son of Frances and Charles Goodsell. He was a teacher in the Newtown school system for 28 years and a volunteer firefighter, Fire Chief, and Fire Marshall over the course of 40 years. He graduated from Springfield College and was a proud and loyal alumnus. He spent summers (and 10 years year-round) on a lake in Delta, Ontario, where he loved to fish and kayak. He recently had been honored as the Citizen of the Year in recognition of his years of service to the community there. As a "snowbird" he spent winters in Boynton Beach, FL, working at Ace Hardware, volunteering at Boynton Beach Fire Rescue, singing in the choir at Seacrest Presbyterian Church, and organizing hymn sings in his neighborhood. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene Goodsell, his son and daughter-in-law Charlie and Amy Goodsell, his daughter and son-in-law Anne and John Van Der Karr, grandchildren Chelsea and her husband Collin, Sarah, Conor, Rose, and a great-granddaughter Caroline. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, teacher, mentor, and friend.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Boynton Beach Fire Rescue Department, Seacrest Presbyterian Church, Newtown Hook & Ladder, Delta United Church, or Springfield College.
