It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mike Bigerton on September 24, 2024, at the age of 76. Mike was born on June 12, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio to John and Anna Louise (Benadum) Bigerton.
Mike met the love of his life and beloved wife, Donna Wells-Bigerton of 34 years. Mike was known for having a strong will, yet a cool temperament. He was a man of few words, but the kindness and love he showed was always felt and never far away.
Mike served in the Marine Corps, 1967 – 1971, where he was stationed in Okinawa. He then held the position of Director of Engineering at various hotels, where he “directed” but was never above jumping in and getting his hands dirty alongside his crew. He received many awards, but the President’s Award from Ritz-Carlton/Marriott was one he was truly proud of. He saved the hotel from a devastating flood by drilling a hole down into the marble floor to release the water, resulting in success. That hurricane was no match for him! Mike was also the most avid and loyal OSU Buckeye fan. You could find him on any given Saturday in his La-Z-Boy screaming Go, Bucks! Mike retired only two and a half years ago from Embassy Suites. He worked long and hard doing what he did best; all the while providing and taking care of his family. He will always keep the nickname, The Hammer and always be remembered in his treasured cowboy hat.
He was preceded in joining the Lord by John and Anna Louise Bigerton, his father and mother.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his true love and wife, Donna Wells-Bigerton; his loving children, Nicholas, Hayley, Matthew and Michael Bigerton and Heather (Witt); daughter-in-law, Kayla (Hoelzel) Bigerton; doting granddaughters, Delilah Rain Bigerton, Kendra Wagner and Taylor Sorenson and great grandsons; Mason and Carter Wagner and Lucas Sorenson; his three loving sisters, June Crawford, Nancy Garcia and Peggy Phillips and his aunt, although, more of a best friend, Agnes “Pudgie” Bergeron.
Friends will be received at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, 599 N.E. 15th Avenue, Boynton Beach, Florida from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service to be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
