Michael Patrick Corbett, 78, of Lantana, Florida, passed away on June 23, 2025, at HCA JFK Hospital due to complications from Parkinson's disease. Michael was born in Rutland, Vermont, on April 13, 1947, to Lucy and Joseph Corbett. At a young age, after the death of his father, his family moved to South Florida. Michael went on to graduate from Lake Worth High School, Palm Beach Junior College, and the University of Florida. He was a lifelong, diehard fan of the Florida Gators and, for years, attended various events with the local Gator Clubs.
Michael believed in service and helping others, which took many forms—most notably, his years of leadership in the local Boy Scouts of America Troop 204. He frequently worked with fellow leaders to teach the troop about hunting, hiking, knot tying, camping, sailing, and any other knowledge or values he could impart.
Michael worked as an architect for the entirety of his career, creating buildings, additions, and renovations across the state of Florida for more than thirty years. He oversaw many projects, both big and small—from the Northbridge Centre (the “Darth Vader Building”) in West Palm Beach to Merritt Boat Works in Pompano Beach.
Despite his long battle with Parkinson’s, he always maintained his sense of humor. He found joy in spending time with his family and friends and watching western and war films. He will always be remembered as the biggest Florida Gator fan, a tireless worker, and an honorable man. Michael will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sharon; his children, Timothy of Brooklyn, NY, and Andrea Wolf (Dave Craft) of Lantana, FL; his granddaughter, Robin of Brooklyn, NY; his sister, Betty Perkins of North Springfield, VT; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, his brother Patrick Corbett, and his brother-in-law, Richard Perkins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 19, 2025, at 3 p.m. at First Church of Boynton Beach (101 N Seacrest Blvd, Boynton Beach, FL 33435), officiated by Reverend Pastor Parker Bennett. If you plan to attend, please wear your best orange and/or blue.
Donations can be made in Michael’s name to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to “The Building Fund” at First Church of Boynton Beach. Michael was a member of First Church and the architect of their Sanctuary renovation in 1998—a project that meant a great deal to him.
