August 30, 1927 - April 8, 2019

Mattie (Margie) Bailey Vann, age 91 of Boynton Beach went home to her Savior on April 8, 2019 with her family by her side.

Margie was born on August 30th in Terrell County, Georgia. Her parents were Matthew James Bailey and Mattie Hamlin Bailey. She was the youngest of two sisters and one brother. She married Thomas (Bubba) Edward Vann, Jr. in 1948. They were blessed with five children in their thirty-three year marriage.

After graduating from high school Margie completed business school and taught business classes. Margie was only 52 years old when her husband died. After his death, she returned to college, earning her AS degree. At 54 she began her career with Publix Super Markets, Inc. and at the time of her retirement at age 70, she was the Department Manager of Publix’s Employee Assistance Program.

Faith and family were at the heart of Margie’s life. During her thirty-three years of marriage, she and Bubba exemplified true love for one another. Both Margie and Bubba were known for cultivating relationships by opening their home to those around them. Unexpected dinner guests were the norm rather than the exception. Guests could always depend on being welcomed with a hot meal and good conversation. Both Margie and Bubba had a giving spirit, helping and showing love to others as Godly examples from which their children learned. After Bubba's death, Margie continued to be a gracious host, always showing love and at times counseling while making sure no one went away without the satisfaction of a delicious meal.

Margie, Mema, Mom, Sister Vann or Mrs. Vann. No matter the name, she made each person feel special. She was a shoulder to cry on, someone to listen and counsel, but she was also someone with whom a person could laugh. Conversation came easy with Margie, even when it shouldn't have been. She personified the examples set by our Savior.

During her life, Margie was a member of Delray Beach Primitive Baptist Church, Plant City Primitive Baptist Church and First Baptist of Boynton Beach.

Awaiting Margie in heaven were her husband, parents, sisters and brother.

Missing her every day are her children and their families:
