MARY E. SCARBORO SHAW
Age 76 of Boynton Beach passed away on October 10, 2015.
Mary was born in Graymont, Georgia to Cecil and Maude Scarboro along with 4 brothers, Charles, Robert, Jimmie and Coleman and 4 sisters, Cynthia, Linda, Martha and Lou Jean. The family moved to Florida in June of 1942.
Mary was a hard worker who raised her 2 sons mostly by herself but with the help of family as well. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, family camping trips and cooking for family holiday gatherings. Mary was always willing to help someone in need by opening up her home to anyone in need, she just could not say no.
Mary’s favorite meals were corned beef and cabbage and fried pork chops. Another favorite past time was going out to the farms to pick fresh field peas with snaps and other fresh vegetables to cook at home.
And of course Mary had to have her coffee every morning to help get her going, a habit that her son Norman picked up and that became their morning routine.
Mary also enjoyed watching her crime tv shows and spending time with family and friends after she retired for the second time from Publix after 30 plus years.
Mary is survived by her 2 sons, Norman L. Darrell, Sr. and Christopher T. (Cheryle P.) Darrell; her brothers & sisters, Lou Jean Yarbrough, Robert Scarboro, Jimmie Scarboro, Martha Scarboro, Charles Scarboro, Linda Scarboro and Cynthia Stewart; her grandson, Norman L. Darrell, Jr.; her granddaughter, Denise Johnson; her great granddaughters, Janise Kelley and Jasmine Johnson and her great grandsons, Kaiden Stewart & Benjamin Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Scarboro, her mother, Maude Scarboro and her brother, James (Coleman) Scarboro.
Friends will be received on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 12 Noon until the service time at 2:00 PM at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, corner of US Hwy. #1 & NE 15th Avenue, Boynton Beach.
