Mary Ellen Hoyt, 79, of Jensen Beach, Florida died Friday, October 30, 2020 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Earle and Elizabeth Hoyt of Freeport, New York and Boynton Beach, Florida. Preceding her in death were her sister Nancy and husband, Edward Murray of Columbus, New Jersey; her brother, Earle of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and Robert Roden, husband of her surviving sister Betty of Melbourne, Florida. Her additional siblings are John and Diane Hoyt of Winter Park, Florida; Peggy and Bill Minnick of Wakefield, Rhode Island; Paul and Mary Ann Hoyt of Millsboro, Delaware; and Jane and Tom Kearns of Fort Myers, Florida. She had 31 nieces and nephews.
Mary Ellen was a graduate of St. Agnes Cathedral High School, Rockville Centre, New York and of SUNY New Paltz, in New Paltz, New York. She was an elementary education teacher, and was employed by the state of Florida before retiring. A prolific knitter and crocheter, her siblings were the recipients of her beautiful afghans.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, The Cabana at Jensen Dunes where she was an Assisted Living resident, and the dedicated staff of Treasure Coast Hospice of Stuart, Florida where she peacefully passed away. There will a celebration of her life on November 16th @ 11AM at St Mark’s R.C. Church Boynton Beach, Fl and private internment at her parent’s gravesite in Boynton Beach.
