Marlon Harris, 61, of Boynton Beach passed away from pancreatic cancer on May 7th, 2017. He was born in Miami FL on April 16, 1956. He grew up in Miami Springs and graduated from Miami Christian High School in 1973 where he played football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from FIU in 1978 with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. Marlon worked as a dispatcher at Miami Springs Police Department. He then became a police officer for Boynton Beach Police Department where he worked for almost 20 years. Marlon loved being a police officer and was the Traffic Division Sergeant when he retired. He then worked 18 years as an Insurance Fraud Investigator.
He married Tammie Ray from Miami Springs and would have been married 38 years in June. They had two beautiful daughters, Danelle Kristine and Kirstie Kylene.
Marlon and his family loved the Lord and loved serving their church. He was a member of First Baptist Church Lantana for 15 years and then First Baptist Church Boynton Beach for 22 years. Marlon was the drummer in the praise worship band. Music was very important in his life. He and Tammie were in a local Christian band for over 15 years where they served the Lord through concerts for church youth groups. Marlon felt the Lord blessed him with playing and singing His praises through music and drums.
Marlon also enjoyed riding his Harley V Rod motorcycle. He and Tammie enjoyed riding A1A and the beautiful country backroads with their friends in Tennessee.
Family was always very important to Marlon. He loved his daughters very much and always was involved in their lives. Marlon was Gpa to Jaxson, Mikiah and Ryder and he felt so blessed by the Lord with his 3 grandsons.
Marlon’s life was richly blessed by the Lord with his family and dear friends. Truly a life taken too soon, but he is playing in the heavenly worship band and we will see him again!
