Marilyn Kopf Hornstein of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away at her home on January 28th, 2023.

Born August 2nd, 1933 in New York City, New York. Marilyn graduated from Hunter College. She then received her Masters in Education from the City University of New York. Marilyn was a teacher, and a very passionate one, in the New York Public School System for more than 25 years. Her career as a middle school English teacher was spent predominantly in the South Bronx, within hailing distance of Yankee Stadium and her beloved New York Yankees. She worked with children whom English was their second language. Her specialty was to bring the English skills of these students up to grade level and beyond. The curriculum she developed was utilized in other programs and schools in the area. Many of her students, because of the fact that they were able to improve their English skills, were able to go on and attend college. When she was not teaching, she often took trips which were far reaching around the world. In her free time she enjoyed playing card games, including poker, canasta and bridge. She loved to dote on her grandchildren, taking pleasure in giving them generous gifts, sharing with them her passions, as well as cooking delicious meals for them (including Grandma’s favorite…lamb chops).

Marilyn is predeceased by her husband Norman. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Spencer and his wife Barbara (North Potomac, MD), her son Richard (Mountain View, CA), her son Glenn and his wife Jane (Salisbury, MD), grandchildren Stephen and his wife Kerrie, Nicole and her husband Jeremy, Dylan, Brandon, Lucas, Noah, Liam and great grandchildren Andy and Aiden.

Funeral services in memory of Marilyn will be held on Sunday, February 5th, 2023 at 10am at the Mount Moriah Cemetery, in Fairview, New Jersey. Donations may be made in memory of Marilyn Hornstein to the Maryland Foundation of Dentistry at https://mfd-dds.org .
