Marie D. Horacius
January 18, 1946 — January 20, 2022
Marie Desermite Horacius was born on January 18, 1946, in a rural section of a little community in Haiti called (Zoranje). Marie’s parents Louis Horacius and Edecie Elcine have raised her and her six siblings; however, at a very young age Marie had to leave her family to relocate to Port-Au-Prince to seek a better life as her parents were not able to financially care for her.
Marie believed in education. Though she was not raised by her parents, she ensured her two children received a proper education and become responsible adults.
Although Marie did not have the opportunity to pursuit a formal education, she routinely learned to be a pastry chef by trade as this was the day-to-day business of the household, she grew up in. As Marie Navigated through life, she met her now deceased husband, Yves Delva, whom she knew to be the first and last man in her life and conceived two children, Nixon and Yva Delva. In addition to her two biological children, Marie also cared for Kesnel Delva, her step-son who has been considered as her own.
Marie was a hard-working mother and sole provider for her children as she raised them without a father. For many years, Marie worked at a supermarket in Haiti where she baked cakes, patties cupcakes and prepared sandwiches.
In July of 2001, Marie left Haiti to reside in the US, more precisely in Orlando, FL to be with her two children. While in America, Marie continued to craft and worked on her own as a pastry chef where she has created her own clientele. In addition to baking, Marie also watched and babysat children from her previous community, Orlando, FL.
In 2003 Marie relocated from Orlando to Palm Beach County; however, it was not until 2005 Marie then found her extended family at Perpetual Help in Delray Beach where she was well known to many for her commitment and devotion to her church activities.
Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, mother in-law, and friend. Marie was very stern with her grandchildren; however, she had a soft heart for them. Marie loved people in general, the latest addition to Marie’s life’s is Roudy, her son in-law whom she adored, especially during her last days. Marie’s past time consist of taking care of her household, going to church, and caring for her garden.
On Thursday January 20, 2022, at 3:24 AM at her residence in Boynton Beach, FL, the good LORD had called Marie to his home and took her to a better place. Although deeply saddened, we understand that God’s timing is on no Men’s timing. Marie fought a good fight through faith and hope, she will be profoundly missed as she will forever be in our hearts.
Marie is survived by her 2 children, Nixon Delva, Yva Delva- Lemonier, step-son Kesnel Delva and son-in-law Roudy Lemonier.
Grandchildren: Jamar Lou Inelus, Kenly Javari Noel, Nicken Lazarus Delva,
Great Grandchildren: Desmond Funchess, Ramaj Christopher Inelus and London Inelus.

Nieces and Nephews: Nazaire, Andremene Zule-Preval, Jean Luckner and Nicole Zule, Emmanuel Dorevil, Marie Josue Harry, Marie Venite St Fleur-Horacius, Andrenel Horacius and Nadege Borgella.
Friends will be received at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, 599 N.E. 15th Avenue, Boynton Beach, Florida from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 3, 2022. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Delray Beach at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 4, 2022. Interment will follow at Boynton Beach Mausoleum.
