Lodine Franklin Spoelman (nee Butts), 85 years young, of Palm Beach County, Florida, gained her angel wings on January 11, 2023. She was born October 19, 1937 in Blount County, Alabama, to Grover and Mille Butts. Lodine was the fourth of six children.
Lodine loved the Lord with all heart and embraced the gift of serving. She, along with her late husband Ralph Spoelman, would always be the first to volunteer to take on the role of being the greeter at church. Once you entered those church doors, there she stood with a smile that spanned ear to ear, as she patiently waited to greet you with a firm handshake or the biggest warm hug.
To some, Lodine was known for her hospitality, but to others, she was known for her homemade, southern cooking. She made the best biscuits and gravy from scratch and one can’t forget about the fried chicken and cornbread! Did I mention the homemade banana pudding? No holiday was complete without Lodine's banana pudding! If you were willing to pull up a chair, she would happily teach you how to cook as well. Just bring the conversation and she will guide you through the cooking.
Throughout the years, her love for others never faded as she continued to pour out her love unto others. One thing is for sure, the word stranger did not exist in her vocabulary - you were family! Nothing made Lodine happier than being surrounded by her family.
Lodine is survived by her seven children by her late husband Verbon Franklin; Emmatte (Victoria), O’Neal (Wendy), Robert (Susan), Earl (Karen), Michael (Laura), Kathryn (Randy) and Linda. She will be remembered by her 17 grandchildren,18 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as her beloved extended family.
Private Family Services were held.
