LLOYD POWELL, 93 went to be with his Lord on January 15, 2023, at home after a brief illness with his family by his side. He was born during the Great Depression on September 12, 1929. He is the son of the late Frederick Clifford Powell and Valeria Agnes Powell Chappell and the youngest of three sons': Donald Gordon Powell (Ruth) and Frederick Louis Powell (Shirley) who have predeceased him. Lloyd was a loving and devoted husband of 66 years to Mardy and a great Dad to Kevin Powell (Wendy), Kerry Powell (Jennifer), Kent Powell, Keith Powell (Deanna), Kurt Powell and Kristen Nichols (Jamey). Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Pop Pop to Shelby Hare (Matthew), Jordan Powell, Kory, Alexa and Chloe Powell and James Nichols, Aryanna Miller, Jordan Guenther (NIka), Jared Guenther (Hannah), and Great Grandfather of Cheyenne and Savannah Hare, Christopher, Jaxon, Jaycee, Logan and Abigail Guenther. and Willow Downs. Many friends both personal and professional. Lloyd was a graduate of John Hay High School class of 1947 and Fenn College (Cleveland State University) School of Business in 1961. He enjoyed camping with his family and traveling to family reunions in northern Ontario, Canada. Lloyd, Mardy and Kevin made two trips of a lifetime: Hawaii, London, England and more specifically to Belgium to the memorial grave of his namesake uncle killed in action during WWI. He attended Christ Fellowship Church in Boynton Beach. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 as a SSGT- Military Policeman stationed in Frankfort and Wildflecken, Germany. He served his former communities as an auxiliary police officer with the Willowick, Ohio and the Village of Arlington Heights, Police Departments. Lloyd spent most of his career as a purchasing agent for: True Temper; Cleveland, Ohio, Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Co.; Canton, Ohio, Martin Metals (Lockheed Martin), Boss Mfg; Chicago, IL and Monroe Auto Equipment Co/Tenneco Automotive prior to moving to Boynton Beach in 1980. He and Mardy co-owned Alpine Florist and retired in 2017. He also was the delivery person for the Medication Station Pharmacy in Boynton Beach. Lloyd was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police lodge #7 Chicago, IL, and life member of the Illinois Police Association. He was awarded the lifetime achievement award from the Boynton Beach Police Department in 2012. Lloyd was a past director of the Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce. He was a past President of: Gold Coast British Sports Car Club, L.E.A.F.- The Law Enforcement Assistance Foundation, Boynton Beach Kiwanis, Fraternal Order of Police Associates Lodge #22; Toledo, Ohio and Gold Coast Lodge #49 Boynton Beach (life member). Florida State Lodge, F.O.P. District 4 Liaison, and officer for the National Grand Lodge Fraternal Order of Police Associates. He was a civic leader serving as past chairman of the City of Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Advisory Board and co-chair of the beautification committee. A celebration of life service will be held at Christ Fellowship Church 801 N. Congress Avenue, Boynton Beach, FL 33426 with Pastor Bob Bender officiating on January 30, 2023. Family and friends will be received at 11 A.M. until 12 noon with the service beginning at 12 noon. A committal service with military honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. promptly at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 S State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449 *Lane #1*
