Laura Marie Klein Diller
Born: Gary, Indiana on April 1, 1927. Died: Greenacres, Florida on July 23, 2024
Laura was the only daughter of Sarah Schiller. She was raised in a loving family by her mother, her grandparents, Andreas, and Katharina Klein and later by her stepfather, Albert Schiller. Throughout high school and after graduation, Laura worked at Gordon’s Department Store in Gary, Indiana making many lifelong friends while she worked there. Later she took a job with the Gary, Indiana Department of Education. In 1963 Laura resigned from the Department of Education so she and her parents could relocate to Hollywood, Florida. The family that lived across the street was from Highland Falls, New York. They had a bachelor son, Raymond Diller, who worked for US Customs. Laura and Raymond began dating. After a year of courtship, Laura and Raymond married. They eventually purchased a home and moved to Lake Worth. Laura and Raymond were fond of their life and enjoyed many vacations together. In 1985 Raymond died of cancer. Laura and her mother, Sarah then moved to Park Point in Greenacres, Florida. Laura cared for her mother until Sarah died in 1995. Laura had a gift for decorating. She could paint walls, use a screwdriver, hammer, and nails, oftentimes installing drapes she had made. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. She also took an art class and produced many works of art.
Laura is survived by her cousins in Germany, in Florida and in Illinois. She has friends and neighbors near and far who have been graced by her cheerful disposition and personality.
