Kirsti Margaretta Seppanen, age 95 of Boynton Beach, Florida, died on July 24, 2019.
Kirsti was born on October 15th in Helsinki, Finland. Her parents were Lydia Saari and Axel Soderqvist. Kirsti had no brothers or sisters. Kirsti married Michael Toivo Seppanen in 1952. They had two children in their 46-year marriage.
Kirsti emigrated to New York in 1940 by boarding the last steamship out of Sweden during World War II. She and her husband built a beautiful home in Baldwin, New York, frequently entertained family and friends, and raised Shetland Sheepdogs. They retired to West Palm Beach, Florida and enjoyed dancing and playing cards with friends. Kirsti loved to sing and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and animals. In 2009, she moved to the Finnish-American Rest Home in Lake Worth, Florida. Kirsti moved to Sonata Boynton Beach in 2016.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Tina Hartley (Michael); her son, Robert Seppanen (Deborah Contino); her grandchildren, Brandon Hartley and Jenna Hartley; and her great-grandchildren, Jazlyn Ramos and Leo Nicewonder. Kirsti was predeceased by her husband, Michael Seppanen; mother, Lydia Saari; and father, Axel Bernhard Soderqvist.
The family would like to thank Sonata Boynton Beach for helping to make Kirsti feel loved and safe. The family would also like to thank Trustbridge Hospice for their dedication, compassion, and care and for walking this final journey with us. Our family is deeply thankful for all the prayers and support during this precious time.
