Kergan John Brandt, 46 of Boynton Beach, FL passed away Wednesday, October 12th after a long battle of illness. Born June 29, 1976, Kergan grew up in the beautiful beach town of Ocean Ridge. A child of the tides, Kergan could always be found at the beach in exploration, watching the water, looking for a swell, fishing, surfing, skimboarding, snorkeling, diving. With the heart of an explorer, he was blessed to travel the world from a very young age; from South America to Sri Lanka, London to Dubai and Barbados to Bahrain; his father Capt. Brandt being a pilot. High school provided him with the opportunity to attend Chaminade, a prestigious boarding school in Saint Louis, Mo where he discovered rugby, thanks to Uncle Bill! Kergan studied at Ohio State; however, the tides called for his return to Florida to discover his true calling and passion in cooking, graduating from The Culinary Institute. Cooking enabled him to show his love and give of himself to those he cared for most. Another passion he loved to share with his friends and family was his art. From a young age Kergan loved to draw and paint the beauty around him, most often the fish he sought to catch. However, Kergan would tell you, hands down, his biggest accomplishment in life is the light of his life, his daughter Lauren Taylor Brandt. The brightest, most beautiful and brilliant girl in the world, he couldn't believe she was a part of him. Kergan will be lovingly remembered by the light of his life, his daughter Lauren Taylor Brandt, mother Sharon Brandt, father Captain Thomas K. Brandt, sister Jennifer Brandt Surgener, nephew Brandt Stone Surgener, step-son Christian Lane and his wife Reanna Mesa and their son Johnny Lane as well as his grandmother Margorie Gajafsky, Uncle Roger and Socorral Gajafsky, Aunt Lori Maeves and her husband Tom, Uncle John Brandt and his wife Sandy and many loving cousins. Funeral Services in memory of Kergan will be held Friday, October 21 at 4pm at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church followed by a celebration of life at the VFW in east Boynton Beach. In addition, a Surfers Service is also planned to let go of his ashes based on weather. Donations may be made in memory of Kergan Brandt to aid in his daughter's tuition for higher learning and university by contacting his family.
