Karen Burkhart, Daughter of Mr & Mrs Joseph Burkhart, and formerly of Sayre, Pennsylvania, passed away after an extended illness. She was 60 years old. A devoted mother and grandmother, Karen always took the time to appreciate the little things, those things that really matter. She will be dearly missed.
Karen graduated from Sayre Area High School in the class of 1972. She attended Alleghany Junior College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Before retiring, Karen was a registered nurse at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida and later at Bethesda Home Health Care. She has resided in south Florida for the past thirty years, most recently in Delray Beach, Florida.
Karen is predeceased by her husband, Patrick O’Riordan. Besides her parents, Karen is survived by her three children and eight grandchildren. Her daughter, Lisa Lynch Kendall, and her husband, Chad live in Boynton Beach, Florida with their children, Tyler, Jaymee, and Drew. Tyler is a Junior and baseball player at Penn State University. Jaymee is a freshman softball player at Central Florida College. Karen’s son, Jeffrey Lynch, and his wife Ali, also reside in Boynton Beach with their children, Ryan, Natalie, and Justin. Karen’s youngest son, Adam Lynch, and his wife, Tanya, live in Boca Raton, Florida with their children, Kate and Mason.
Karen is also survived by eight brothers and sisters, twenty-seven nieces and nephews, and several great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Four generations from the Joseph and Mary Burkhart family number 102 family members. Karen’s brother, Joseph (wife Dolores), and her sister, Lisa Jarvis (Glenn) both live in Sayre. Kathleen Stevens and her husband, Burt, live in Palm City, Florida. Patrick and Michelle Munn Burkhart, and James and his family live in Boca Raton, Florida. Michael and Maureen Crowley Burkhart live in Lake Worth, Florida. Ellen Weiland (Ron) lives in Boynton Beach, Florida. Karen’s youngest brother, William, lives in Fort Lauderdale.
Karen was a member of St Mark’s Catholic Church in Boynton Beach, Florida and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Florida. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Saturday, December 20th at ten o’clock.
