JOSEPH SANTALUCIA
Joseph SantaLucia age 99 of Boynton Beach passed away Monday, October31, 2022.
Joe was born December 19, 1922 in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Julius and Anna DiGiovanni SantaLucia. Upon entering the Army in the early 40’s, he was assigned to the Army Specialized Training Program at Lake Forest College for soldiers with technical skills. He then joined the 96th Infantry Division where he saw combat in Leyte (Philippines) and Okinawa.
Upon being Honorably Discharged, he worked in marketing for Cutco Cutlery, a division of Alcoa. After 40 years with Alcoa, he owned a successful mail order business.
After selling his mail order business, he and his lovely wife, Carmela moved to Goshen, New York where they immediately became active with the Salesians of Don Bosco, a Catholic Organization located in Goshen. Joe organized and directed a successful festival for the Salesians of Don Bosco for 6 years. He often said that the he and Carmela spent the best and happiest years of their lives in Goshen.
They then retired to Florida where they joined St. Mark’s Catholic Church and continued volunteering in St. Mark’s many activities.
Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Carmela, his brother, Eugene and his sister, Mary Cappello.
Joe is survived by 4 nieces; Diane Hartel of Boynton Beach, Ann Williams of Southbury, Connecticut, Linda Cappello of Middlebury, Connecticut, and Maryann Lizzi of Charleston, South Carolina; 4 nephews, Eugene “Gino” SantaLucia of Plantation, Florida, Charles & Joseph Cappello of Connecticut, and Karl Hartel Jr. of Boynton Beach; brother-in-law, Karl Hartel Sr. of Boynton Beach; several great nieces & nephews and great great nieces & nephews.
Friends will be received Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 10-11 AM at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, 599 N.E. 15th Ave., Boynton Beach.
A Funeral Mass will follow and be celebrated at 11:30 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church, 643 St. Mark Place, Boynton Beach.
Immediately following the Funeral Mass, a Committal Service will be held at Palm Beach Memorial Park and Joe will be entombed beside his beloved wife, Carmela.
