Age 89 of Boynton Beach passed away on October 19, 2017. Joseph moved to this area 23 years ago from East Haven, CT. He attended St. Mark Catholic Church, Boynton Beach. Joseph was a veteran of World War II proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the American Legion and Elks Lodge No. 25 in New Haven, CT. Joseph was a former Justice of the Peace in East Haven and graduated from the University of New Haven in 1978 with a Bachelor’s Degree. He was active in politics, participating in local and national political campaigns, and served as a Poll Worker for many years in East Haven and Palm Beach County.
Joseph is survived by 3 daughters, Joann Popolizio, Marilyn (John) Huntington, Gianna Popolizio; son, Joseph (Sue) Popolizio; grandson, Nicholas; granddaughter, Julia; sister, Isabelle Teodosio; extended family John, Heidi, Alycia, Joshua Huntington and Michael, Shannon, Briahna, Gavin Reece; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth (Betty) in 2016 and 10 brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, corner of US Hwy. #1 & NE 15th Ave., Boynton Beach on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 from 12 Noon until the service time at 12:30 PM. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 2:15 PM on Thursday at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida Lane #5.
