John L. Pruitt, better known as “JP’ passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, at the age of 86 in Jupiter, FL. Born on May 8, 1938, in Baltimore, MD, John lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, friendship, and positive impact on the lives of so many others.

John played golf and basketball for the University of Maryland before he entered the Air Force to proudly serve his nation. While serving in the Air Force, he continued to play golf with the aspiration to be a professional golfer. Some of his proudest golf accomplishments were caddying for Arnold Palmer in his win at the 1956 Eastern Open, winning the longest drive contest with a 333 yard drive on a Par 4 and for defeating Jack Nicklaus in a Pro-Am tournament.

John was the life of the party and his contagious smile and personality would brighten everyone's day. He spent most of his professional life in various sales roles. His biggest impact and absolute passion was as the Director of Oceanside Volleyball Club where he helped over 200 female athletes receive scholarships to college.

John’s interests brought great joy to his life. He enjoyed watching and playing golf, grabbing a burger and a beer at The Creek, sharing stories over a glass of wine, BBQing on football Sundays, checking off trips from his “living life” list with Bobbi & Kim and helping his daughter pull off the most epic events.

His most proud role was as a loving husband to his wife, Bobbi and a magnificent father to his daughter, Kim.

John L. Pruitt will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his beloved wife, Bobbi of 49 years; his loving daughter, Kim; his niece and nephews; William (Jacqui), Bridget, Colton, Jeff (Michelle), Joe, and Tom; his brother in laws John, James (Patty), George (Barbara) and sister in law Joanne. John was predeceased by his parents, Alberta and John Pruitt, Sr as well as his sister Jeanette Devico.

His warm spirit and generosity touched many lives, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
