John Freeman Irvine Profile Photo
John Freeman Irvine, 66, of Lake Worth Florida passed away on November 22,
2024. John was born in Philadelphia to Samuel W. Irvine and Betty Jane Freeman
Irvine on November 25, 1957. John is best remembered as a quiet, private, and
generous person.
John moved with his family to Palm Beach County as a child. Here he discovered
his love of cultivating plants, first in the backyard, and this developed into a true
passion which eventually led to the building of a nursery in Loxahatchee.
John was particularly enthusiastic about tropical plants: palms, cycads, and
bromeliads were among his favorites. He devoted over 30 years to both plants and
societies. His enthusiasm to learn more about these wonderful plants led him on
several international excursions. He often reminisced about his time in the
Amazon and praised the Palm Society and Bromeliad Society for their help in
making the trip possible.
John was also an avid cyclist. His pursuit of the sport took him on many trips
through Florida and the Southeast United States. One of his crowning
achievements was riding up Mt. Mitchell, NC regarded as the highest peak in the
Appalachian Mountains.
John will be fondly remembered by his 4 sisters (and their spouses). Ann Louise
Irvine, Margaret Elizabeth Irvine (Ben), Jane Meade Reilly (Terry), and Candace
Irvine Shelly (John), along with his 2 nieces, 3 nephews, and his many friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your
choice.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for John on January 11, 2025 at 4:00pm.
The location is the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens located at 253 Barcelona Road
West Palm Beach.

Do not weep for me for I am free from illness and pain.
I am with you. The sun on your face, the wind in your hair, and with the sweet
smell of the earth after it rains.
I am always with you…..
