John Joseph Anderson
Born in Brooklyn New York on 8/27/28 as the only child of Mary and Augustine Anderson. Graduated from Brooklyn Prep in 1946 and enlisted in the US Marine Corp the month following graduation where he served until honorably discharged in May 1949. Following in his father and uncle’s footsteps, John joined the NYPD a year after leaving the Marine Corp, where he served the City and its citizens for 26 years before he retired at the rank of Lieutenant.
John is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 64 years, Bernadette McEnroy Anderson. His two girls, Regina Bellucy (husband James R. Bellucy, Jr, and grandson Michael Patrick Crafa) and Chrisann Nowatkowski. John is also survived by his cousin Eileen Fitzpatrick and her nine children (Peggy Ann, William, Robert, Eileen Jr, Barbara, Claire, Michael, John, and Timothy) along with his sister in law, M. Patricia McEnroy and nieces and nephews, Lori Colletti , Michael McEnroy, Kathleen Rea and Brian McEnroy and their families. John helped raise many of his nieces and nephews during various times of their lives. John was a devoted family man. There was nothing he would not do or sacrifice for his family. We was an amazing son, husband, father and uncle. John was a man of strong and enduring faith, which guided his life and actions. John was also a loyal and fierce friend. John had a great sense of humor, was a civil war buff, an avid reader and a big football fan, which he shared with his daughter Regina.
John loved to travel and took his family to many exciting places. The family often wondered which he enjoyed more, the planning of the trip or the actual trip. John was very proud of his Irish and Scottish heritage and he and Bernadette enjoyed trips to both Ireland and Scotland.
John was adored and admired by many for his faith, loyalty, and unwavering love and devotion to family, friends and Country.
