Joan Teli (Doraski) died on Saturday, July 12, 2025 in Boynton Beach, Florida. She was 83 years old.

In the days before her death, Joan was surrounded by her loving family; daughter Tamara, grandson Nicholas, granddaughter Helena, Austin, Zeus, and nephew Johnny Casper. Joan was also visited by The Daughters of Mary Sisters and Fr. James Curatolo, SSPV.

Joan was proceeded in death by her son, David and her son-in-law, Wayne. She was also proceeded in death by her parents, Andrew and Helen, her brother and wife Kenneth (Betty), sisters and husbands Dorothy (Joe), Marie (John), and sister Peggy (Ron), and nephew Ron.

Joan leaves behind her loving family; daughter, Tamara, grandson Nicholas (Daniela), granddaughter Helena (Austin) and great grandson Zeus Laurent, her son David’s children; Melissa, Brian, Katelynn, and John, and their mother Christy.

Joan also leaves behind a brother-in-law Ron, several nieces and nephews; Gloria, Liz, Jane, Joe, John, Melanie, Johnny, Susan, Lindsey and their families, as well as extended family and close friends.

Joan was born in Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania. Joan loved to talk about her life in PA. Joan was seventeen when her family moved to Ohio. Joan enjoyed the years in Ohio raising her children and spending time with her parents, her siblings and their children. There was always laughter, singing and reminiscing among them. Joan was deeply devoted to her mom and dad. They gave Joan and her siblings a good life growing up. They provided a pious example of a deep love for the Catholic faith.

In 1985 Joan moved to Charlotte, North Carolina and attended Queens College.

During her years in Charlotte, Joan worked as a professional Subrogation Specialist for the City of Charlotte. Joan had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing. In her earlier years, Joan’s love for ballet drew her to taking ballet classes and performing. Joan was always very friendly and loved meeting new people.

Joan moved to Florida in 2024 to be near her daughter and family.

A Funeral Mass was offered for Joan on Monday, July 21 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Boynton Beach, Florida by Father Williams Jenkins, SSPV. A burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery in Royal Palm Beach followed.

Joan’s family was extremely grateful for the compassion and care the doctors, nurses and staff provided to Joan at Hospice. We also appreciated the excellent care and service provided by Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
