It is with tremendous sadness and love we announce the passing of Jill Anne (Van Zandt) Forshey, 64, on Thursday, September 26, 2024, surrounded by her family, in Delray Beach, Florida. She had fought hard for a year and a half with Pancreatic Cancer.
Jill was born May 1, 1960, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Warren E. and Doris M. (Porlier) Van Zandt. She served on the Rainberry Bay Villa board and remained active until her last chemo treatment, playing pickleball, bocce ball, and canasta. She loved spending time with her friends from the Rainberry Bay community and helping people.
She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Battle Creek, MI, it was her strong faith that sustained her on cancer treatment days or travel to the MD Anderson Cancer Center for her clinical trial in Houston, Texas.
Jill had a sense of purpose with her family – always trying to keep in contact with them; laughter came easily to her when he saw or heard something funny; she was a fix-it kind of gal—always willing to fix things that needed it. Above anything, she loved and giggled with her grandson and son, enjoying every minute they spent together. She was so happy to be close to them these past few years.
She graduated from St. Philip Catholic Central High School in 1978 in Battle Creek. She married Michael “Mike” Forshey in 1998 in Battle Creek; however, he preceded her in death September 26, 2018. Jill worked faithfully with the Calhoun County Road Commission in the Finance Department retiring in 2020.
Her son survives her: Matthew (Brianna) Corrigan; her wonderful grandson: Dylan; her two sisters: Donna (Fred) Jurs and Sue (Fred) Bachman; her nieces: Jennifer (David) Grace, Sarah (John) Boven, Marcie (Ben LaMarca) Bowman; Nephew Craig Bowman. Great nieces: Shelby and Sadie; Great Nephews: Jordan, Casey, and Lucas; Her mother-in-law: Mary Forshey; sister-in-law Nanci Forshey; and her fur babies: Ella and Yoda.
Jill was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mike, brother Ray VanZandt, sister-in-law Karen VanZandt, and father-in-law Norman Forshey. Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Theater in the Rainberry Bay community, Delray Beach, Florida.
