Jennie Mattiello
Maiden name - Abruzzo
Date of death: May 6, 2022 in Boynton Beach, Florida
Born July 29th 1921 in Brooklyn New York.
Jennie gave life to 6 children Jimmy, Lenny, Ella, Sal, Diane and Raymond; which brought 17 grandchildren; and countless great children; nearly 2 dozen.
She was known for her best apple pie, biscotti, struffoli and her all time favorite lasagna. Anyone that knows her though, knows she would pass her dinner up for dessert any day. There was a time when she was leaving the bakery, she ended up in manhole on her knees but still managed to save the cake.
She might have looked small, being 5'1 feet but she fooled many and was a fighter probably thanks to her brother Gabby the boxer who taught her how to fight. I remember her stories, especially where 5 teenagers tried to rob her purse, but she fought them off even though they ended up breaking the strap.
Jennie had no filter; she was always known for speaking her mind.
Being the life of the party; she loved to dance even up to her last days; she would mention doing the waltz and the bunny hop. No one could compete with her in a bingo tournament; playing with 10 cards in front of her and always came out winning. She was also quite the poker player taught many how to play.
In her spare time, she hand crocheted dozens of blankets so each family member would have something to remember her by.
And when it come to love, she was full of love both giving and receiving. Her late husbands Jimmy Siniscalchi and Raymond Mattiello both passed over 25 years ago and in the years after she had a few boyfriends and was quite the social light. It was obvious her love was hard to resist.
With almost 2 months away from turning 101 years old, Jennie had lived and survived through 2 pandemics. She was one of the toughest, feistiest, funniest and loving woman, , some might say she was an all around firecracker.
Her daughter Diane was there to care for her, always making sure she was well taken care of until the very end. Each week she would bring her tootsie roll pops, fruits, cookies and of course her Gatorade. We all thought she would outlive most of us. She will be loved and missed by many and never ever forgotten.
