JEAN "Jeanie" DAME

Jean “Jeanie” Dame, of Lake Worth, passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she was the youngest of four siblings and grew up on the South Side. After losing her father at the age of 12, Jeanie was lovingly raised by her mother.

During her teenage years, Jeanie began working in the hospitality industry as a waitress and hostess before teaching herself bookkeeping. She went on to work for the Holiday Inn and Red Balloon Restaurant in Ford City, Chicago. In 1978, she and her family relocated to South Florida, where she built a remarkable career. Jeanie held Controller positions at Ocean Properties in Delray Beach, Atlantic Filter in West Palm Beach, the Ocean Grande (Four Seasons) in Palm Beach, the Sailfish Club in Palm Beach, Wycliff Golf and Country Club in Lake Worth,, The Fountains Country Club in Lake Worth, and more than a dozen other country clubs throughout Palm Beach County. She was admired not only for her professional excellence but also for mentoring and encouraging countless colleagues to grow alongside her.

Jeanie’s life was defined not only by her resilience but also by her big personality. A three-time cancer survivor, she met life’s challenges with courage and determination. She was headstrong, exuberant, and full of energy — the kind of woman who filled every room she entered. She loved riding motorcycles, playing poker, and collecting treasures. She never went anywhere without her jewelry and always had her hair done just right. Her pets were also a source of great joy throughout her life, and she adored her dogs — Boomer, Bear, Peaches, Snow, Sammy, Susie, and Soxy.

She was most proud of putting her only son through college as a single mother, meeting her beloved granddaughter after surviving cancer, and sharing a special bond with her godson, Andrew Seigle. Proud of her Polish heritage, Jeanie will forever be remembered by those who loved her as our “Polish Princess.”

Jeanie is survived by her devoted husband of 29 years, James Clark; her son, William Vander May (Jennifer); her granddaughter, Emily Dessalines (Ed’ Stanley); her godson, Andrew Seigle; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by several family members she held close to her heart.

A private burial will take place at the South Florida National Cemetery in Boynton Beach on October 24, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jeanie’s memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. http://info-komen.org/goto/Jean_Dame
