James Horace Medlin, Jr., 76, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2016. He was born on February 6, 1940 in Miami, Florida, son of James Horace and Artelle Gaines Medlin, Sr.
James was raised on a family dairy farm with his sisters Marjorie Lurline
Steele and Mary Lou Daniel. He attended elementary school in Miami, Florida and Devereux Schools in Devon, Pennsylvania during the 1950s and early 1960s. He later returned to live with his parents in Miami where he enjoyed a close relationship with his family including many aunts, uncles and cousins. In 1991 he moved from Miami to Boca Raton, Florida, where he lived the remainder of his life. James enjoyed his church, his collection of music and movies and woodworking.
James is survived by his sister, Marjorie Lurline Medlin Steele, his nieces, Marianne, Deborah and Susan Steele; niece, Melinda Daniel; great niece; Camille (Elliot) Capers, nephew; Jarrod Ingram, nephew; Jamison Ingram, great, great nephew; Rylan Capers.
Friends will be received from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, Sunday, August 21, 2016, where services will be held at 3:30 PM at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, corner of US Highway 1 and N.E. 15th Avenue, Boynton Beach, FL, 33435, (561) 732-8151.
