JAMES E. “JIM” SHAFFER
Age 87 passed away after experiencing an aortic abdominal aneurysm on May 15, 2018. Jim was born in Columbus, OH on April 1, 1931 where he lived until he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force he finished his college education and worked at Lazarus/Federated Dept. Stores. After that retirement he worked for Home Depot for 29 more years and Jim was still employed there at the time of his passing.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, 2 brothers, John and Gene, 2 nephews, Steve and Andy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Lynda; son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Dawn Marie; granddaughters, Charlene and Jessica; grandson, Frank and his wife, Kate; great granddaughter, Charlotte; nieces, Lori, Jeanne, Lee, Janie and Deborah; nephews, Scott, Bill and Steven; sisters-in-law, Ceceila and Anne and brothers-in-law, Richard, Jack and Keith and Shu-Shu Shaffer, Jim's service dog.
Friends will be received at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, 3300 South Seacrest Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 4:00 PM until the service time at 5:00 PM. The Committal Service with Military Honors will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11:15 AM (Lane #1).
Those who wish may make contributions to St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church or to the American Heart Association in memory of James E. Shaffer.
