of Boynton Beach, Florida, beloved husband of Carole Anne (Peloquin) Focht died on Sunday, February 1, 2015 after a long courageous battle with MRSA and cancer. Jim and Carole would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 5, 2015.
He was born on October 10, 1937 in Camden, NJ, the son of the late Isabella (Ritchie) Focht and John Nathan Focht.
Jim was the beloved father of Debra Lee Tobin and Patti Jayne Randolph (Roger) and was predeceased by his loving sons, Stephen Ritchie Jude and Christian Noel; grandfather of Jamie Renee Mello, Jason James and Tara Lynn Tobin, Hannah Jane Randolph and Molly Carole Sullivan Focht; great grandfather to twins, Ethan Edward and Alexander Nathan Mello, also beloved foster children and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late John Nathan, Edwin Lees and Isabella Sturgell.
Jim served honorably in the U.S. Navy active duty from 1954-1958 and reserves until 1962 making two deployments to the Mediterranean on AirCraft Carriers. The Navy provided him with a great deal of Electronic education and he always said “The Navy gave me more than I gave them”.
He was a loyal employee of Federal Products MAHR/Federal in Providence, RI from 1959-2000 in the Engineering Department.
Jim resided in North Kingstown, RI from 1973-2004 and then retired to Boynton Beach, Florida.
He was a very active member of St. Francis de Sales parish in N.K., RI. He participated in the RCIA program and became a convert to Catholicism. For many years he was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector, also a Facilitator for the Stephen Ministries and thought it always an honor and a privilege.
Jim was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis Council 2011 and a member of the American Legion Post No.12. He was active in the Community as a volunteer, Little League Coach, Cub Scout Leader and at the N.K. Senior Center and the Boynton Beach Senior Center.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 from 4-7 pm at Barrett-Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave., Warwick, RI. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at 9:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown, RI.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sr. Mary Joan Pastoral Minister, c/o St. Mark Catholic Church, 643 St. Mark Place, Boynton Beach, FL 33435 or St. Francis de Sales parish in Jim’s memory.
