James C. Cavanagh, III

James C. Cavanagh, III, known affectionately as "Jay" to his family and friends, 67, of West Palm Beach, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 30, 2025, at his home. When Jay's friends gave us their condolences this week, there was one common thread; that Jay had the biggest heart of anyone they knew. And that heart gave out on Sunday, and all of our hearts lifted him to heaven. 

Through all of life's storms, Jay was our foundation. Steady, thoughtful, and selfless; he was always there for his friends and family. He offered his help without a second thought, and his generosity knew no bounds. He put others before himself, and literally would give you the shirt off his back. His willingness to put others before him was a true reflection of his character. Jay was absolutely one of the good guys. His sense of humor, his smile, and his thoughtfulness were other common threads from his friends. And if he loved you, he loved you forever. 

Not only was Jay a very special brother, uncle, and brother-in-law, he was our best friend. Thank You, Jay, for the joy and love you brought into our lives and the lives of your many friends. 

In the words of Maya Angelou: "People will forget what you said; people will forget what you did; but people will never forget how you made them feel".

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with a 5:00 pm Prayer Service at SCOBEE-COMBS-BOWDEN FUNERAL HOME.
