HAROLD CLIFFORD WOODING JR.
Age 81 of Lake Worth, formerly of Trumbull, Connecticut, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017.
Hal, as he was known to his family and friends, was born April 12, 1936, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to the late Harold Clifford Wooding Sr. and Mary Veronica Kennedy Wooding.
He graduated from the University of Connecticut and served as an Army officer at White Sands Missile Range. Hal was an electronic engineer with Norden Systems, a division of United Technologies, for 26 years and held two patents associated with fiber optics.
He was a parishioner and active volunteer at Sacred Heart Church in Lake Worth, a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, Lake Worth Council #3393, and a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants’ Isaac Allerton Colony. Hal was also a volunteer for many years at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts and the Lake Worth Playhouse.
He was a world traveler and saw much of the United States by motor home. He also had Alfa Romeos for many years and liked to drive them at the Lime Rock track in Connecticut. He was a kind man who will be sorely missed.
Hal is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce Ann DiBlasi Wooding; children Gregory (Perri) and Douglas Wooding, both of Newport Beach, California, Sandra Kiley (Brian) of Studio City, California, and Brenda Wooding (Eric) of Washington, D.C.; and grandchildren Patric, Jason, and Kristian Wooding, Sean and Alison Kiley, and Olive Wooding Adler.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 425 North M Street, Lake Worth. A committal service with military honors will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road, Lake Worth (Lane #1). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
