Gordon Lee Ready, age 65, passed away on Friday September 9, 2016 from the long term complications of diabetes. Born in Warren, Ohio on February 15, 1951, he was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Dorothea (Dodie) Kane Ready. Gordon attended Seacrest High ('69), went on to play football at the University of Tennessee, and then came home to Boynton Beach, FL where he followed in his father's footsteps with a well respected lifelong career in the construction industry, working for Gulf Stream Lumber, LD Mullins Lumber, Smith & DeShields, and Pilot Steel. Gordon worked very hard, loved his family deeply, and made friends everywhere he went with his big smile and even bigger heart. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life, never missing a sporting event or a dance recital. Gordon is survived by his heartbroken family: wife Barbara; son Bryan (Shannon) grandchildren Riley, Kendall, Peyton, Carson; son Johnathan (Danielle) grandson Nolan; daughter Brittany (Brandon Shaw) grandchildren Nevaeh, Brady, and expected baby Zayden; brother Gary Ready; and too many good friends to ever list them all. Please think of Gordon whenever the UT Volunteers play, because we know he is watching their games from above wearing his orange Tennessee hat and shirt, and cheering for every Vol touchdown. Gordon lived well, loved life, and everyone loved him. We will dearly miss those blue eyes and great big hugs. Friends will be received on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a Funeral Service at 6:30 PM at Scobee-Combs-Bowden Funeral Home, corner of U.S. Hwy. #1 & N.E. 15th Ave., Boynton Beach. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider donations to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Gordon. Their address is: American Diabetes Association 1701 North Beauregard Street Alexandria, VA 22311 1-800-DIABETES (800-342-2383)
