Gladys Uena Rose (Johnson) Mead, 88 of Boynton Beach, FL passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in Jacksonville Beach with her family by her side. Born in Toronto Canada to the late Jack and Ellen Johnson, Gladys emigrated from Canada in 1964 with her husband Charles where the family owned and operated a service station in Delray Beach for over 20 years. Gladys was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Boynton Beach; Past Worthy Matron of O.E.S., Boynton Chapter #238; Past Grand Warder Grand Chapter of Florida 2007-2008 and a member of Iretta Sherman Chapter #145 O.E.S.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2014 and siblings: Albert, James, Gloria and Norma Jean.
She is survived by her 5 daughters & son-in-laws, Cindy & David Lund, Mary & Robert McClory, Karen & Russell Wagner, Nancy & Wayne Miller; Kim & Jerry Hogan; 12 grandchildren, 11 ½ great grandchildren; brother & sister Robert Johnson and Nellie Sheshewabic of Dwight Ontario Canada; and numerous nieces,nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Scobee- Combs- Bowden Funeral Home, corner of US Hwy #1 & NE 15th Avenue, Boynton Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the OES Grand Chapter Endowment and Investment Fund c/o John Peters 2840 11th Street, Ocala, FL 34471 or your favorite charity in Gladys’ memory.
