GERTHA VALMOND
The Lord called Gertha Valmond to her Heavenly home on Sunday,
May 7, 2022 after suffering terribly with cancer. Gertha was born on December 8, 1946 in Bainet, Haiti and grew up in Port-Au-Prince. She was a lifelong resident of New York but after traveling to Florida, she decided to move to Boynton Beach. Gertha was a God Loving Woman who spent her life worshiping and following the teaching of Jesus Christ and of Our Lady the Virgin Mary, who is her Beloved Mother. Gertha was a member of the Group Sainte Family, Legion of Mary, Sacred Heart Church, the Turgeau and a Eucharistic Minister for over 30 years.
Gertha was devoted to her family, working hard to educate her children and put food on the table. In her shop in Haiti “Magazin Toile”, Gertha sold tissues.
She married Villege Jean Marie and had 6 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Gertha took pride and joy in counseling her children to take Christ’s Church seriously and to recite the Rosary every month. She had a positive attitude even in the most difficult of times, no matter the circumstances. Some of her favorite sayings to her family were “It was going to be okay” and “The Lord has a plan”. Some of her many qualities were her work ethic, her patience, her giving, her love and she was a perfect example of a Great Woman.
Gertha was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Duperie, her son, Dominique Jean Marie, and her daughter, Marjorie Jean Marie. She is survived by her sons, Donald Jean Marie, Vilaire Jean Marie; her daughters, Moseline Fortisme Pelage and Alta Jean Marie; grandsons, Curvitch Pelage, Droosle Pelage, Jeff Jean Marie and Fabrice Dice D. Jean Marie; granddaughters, Taina Vanessa Jean Marie, Dorine Jean Marie Fleury, Murleida Nayanka Jean Marie and Reina Sayanka Jean Marie; stepdaughter, Quenecia Desravine; stepsons, Nesly Pelage and Ernest Laurent; neice, Jacqueline Fortisme; nephews, Perrie Alex Julmis, Nadege Julmis and Jean Max Julmis.
