Denver, CO – Gerard Peter Catena Eckert, 47.
Family and friends are saddened by the sudden loss of Gerry Eckert on April 25, 2017. Gerry was born June 15, 1969 to Peter Eckert and Patricia (Catena) Eckert in Orange, NJ. The youngest of three children, he grew up in Roseland, NJ. He attended West Essex High School and graduated from Carrabassett Valley Academy in Carrabassett Valley, Maine. He graduated from The University of Colorado Boulder in 1992 where he skied on the JV team from 1987-1989. After college, Gerry lived and worked in New York City having spent over ten years with Goldman Sachs. Gerry was a tried & true Colorado Buffaloes supporter, particularly of their ski and football teams. It was noted that, “Gerry truly was a Buff for life.” His love of the mountains and skiing would bring him back to Colorado where he remained an avid skier and spent many years coaching youth ski teams.

He will be deeply missed.

Gerry is survived by his mother Patty Eckert; his sister Darcie Eckert and her husband, Patrick O’Donoghue; his brother-in-law William Helfrich, and two nieces, Casey and Margot Helfrich. Gerry was preceded in death by his father, Peter Eckert, and his oldest sister, Maura (Eckert) Helfrich.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sat. May 6, 2017 at 11:00am at:

During his life, Gerry was a great lover of animals having adopted rescued dogs and cats through the years. His Golden Lab, Janna, and his two cats, Herman and Blackjack, have been lovingly taken in by his mother, Patty, and Mike Belmonte to their home in Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley (Colorado).
